Hopadoo Learning Quest Privacy Policy
About Hopadoo Learning Quest
Hopadoo Learning Quest is a learning app for children aged 6 to 9. It is part of the Hopadoo Tales family and is made and operated by MJ Labs. Four Hopadoo friends - Kiki the Kangaroo, Tuba the Elephant, Pico the Frog and Mimi the Bunny - host maths, reading, science and thinking games.
We built the app so that it never needs to know who is playing. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with information.
Children’s privacy
Hopadoo Learning Quest is designed primarily for children aged 6 to 9. Because it is made for children, we keep things simple: the app does not collect personal information from anyone, does not show advertising, does not track children, and does not sell or share children’s personal information - there is none to sell or share.
The app never asks for a name, age, birthday, email address, phone number, photo, voice or location, and it has no screen where any of those could be typed. There is nothing for a parent or guardian to review, correct or delete with us.
Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information through the app.
The app has no account, no login and no text-entry fields. It does not read your contacts, calendar, photos, camera, microphone, location, health or motion data, and it does not use the advertising identifier or any other device identifier. It does not use cookies and does not open web pages inside the app.
Learning progress stored on the device
To remember how a child is getting on, the app saves a small amount of game progress on the device only. For each activity that has been finished it keeps:
- how many sessions were completed
- the best score and the total number of correct answers
- the hardest level finished
- the best star rating (1 to 3 Hopadoo Stars)
- the date and time the activity was last played
Progress never leaves the app
Nothing in that progress record identifies a person or a device. It lives in the app’s own private storage on the phone or tablet, which other apps cannot read, and the app never sends it to us or to anyone else.
Device and system backups
If the phone or tablet is set to back up app data - for example iCloud Backup on Apple devices or Android Backup on Google devices - the progress record may be included in that backup under the device owner’s own account. Those backups are run and controlled by the device and its operating system, not by the app. We have no access to them.
Advertising
The app contains no advertising of any kind: no banners, no video ads, no sponsored content and no advertising software. There is no behavioural advertising, because nothing about the child is collected to base it on.
Analytics and tracking
The app contains no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting software. We do not measure how a child uses the app, we do not build profiles, and we do not track anyone across other apps or websites.
Permissions
The app asks for no device permissions. On Apple devices it requests nothing. On Android the released app declares no permissions at all - not even internet access - because it works entirely offline.
Third-party services
The app is built with open-source software components (Expo and React Native). None of them sends information off the device as part of this app. The app does not include any third-party advertising, analytics, social-media or messaging software.
Purchases
The app has no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. Everything in it is included when it is installed.
Links outside the app
The app contains no links to websites, app stores, email or social media, so a child cannot leave the app by tapping something inside it.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, share or disclose personal information to anyone. The app gives us no personal information, so there is nothing to share.
Data retention and deletion
Game progress stays on the device for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling the app removes it. Reinstalling starts fresh. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete on request.
Security
Because no information leaves the device, there is no transmission to protect. Progress is kept in the app’s private storage area, which is separated from other apps by the operating system.
Changes to this privacy policy
If a future version of the app ever changes how it handles information - for example by adding an online feature - we will update this policy first and change the "last updated" date. The current version is always available at https://mjlabs.biz/privacy/hopadoo-learning-quest and inside the app under For Parents.
